Week 3 RSS Reflections:

1.What did you learn? I am totally new to the entire blogging phenomena. Most of the concepts were over my head but I tried to stay focused and figure them out.

2.How will you use what you have learned?
I would like to have a blog site to help parents with questions about dyslexia.
The RSS tool was very interesting.

3.How did you feel about this tool?
I will research more appropriate RSS feeds to see the appropriateness of the material for parents.

4.What do you not want to forget about this tool? How to incorporate it on my blogging site. It is still a bit tricky for me to use but once I use it more often, I should be more comfortable with it. I have a hard time remembering how to use it.

5.How can this be used in the classroom or in your educational role? Parents are always asking for information about dyslexia. I would like to share appropriate information with them about dyslexia and finding websites with good information is always beneficial to me and parents.

6.Should you use this in the classroom or your educational role? I don't teach in a classroom so I would share this information in my 'educational role" as a dyslexia evaluator.

7.What questions do you still have about this tool? I am still 'too new to know' what to ask.

RSS Choices

a. What RSS reader did you chose and why?
Google because it seemed the most straight forward for me to understand.

b. What “non-classmate” blogs did you subscribe to?
         http://www.18aprons.blogspot.com/
        http://www.karensafricanadventures.blogspot.com/
        http://macygoode.blogspot.com/
        http://www.justkeeprunningsf.blogspot.com/ (non-operational at this time)
c. What made you chose those blogs?
The '18 aprons' blogsite is my nieces's private blogsite, as well as, her former 'just keep running' blogsite. She ran a marathon to earn money for the chrone's foundation. She has had Chrone's disease for many years and it is an organization that is close to her heart.
The 'karens african safari' blogsite is a friend of mine that is in the Peace Corps in Africa. She keeps in touch with her friends with the blog. It is jammed packed for of history and cultural facts, as well.  I have been following her blog since last fall when she left for Aprica. I didn't understand the concept of the blog until I took this course.
The 'macy goode' blog site is for digital scrapbooking which  is a hobby of mine.

Blogs that caught my eye...

1. Tracy's blog: Summer Blogging Adventure Blog was colorful and kept my attention. I think it would stir creativity in students.
2. Natasha's blog: Teacher on Summer Break. I enjoyed reading her comments and thought her avatar's were clever.
3. Jennifer's blog: Cogitatio Carminum...hmmm

Reflections from week 2:

What did you learn? How to control my frustrations with blogging when I first attempted to set up my page. Since then, it has become a bit easier to use with the guidance of a friend who has shown me a few things.

How will you use what you have learned? I hope to share ideas with parents about dyslexia and dyslexia testing.

How did you feel about starting a blog? Scared, frustrated and overwhelmed!

What is one of the focuses you want to remember when you update your blog? To keep the information general so that it reaches all audiences.

How can this be used in the classroom or in your educational role? The information that I plan to post about dyslexia should be helpful with the identification of dyslexia.

What questions do you still have about blogging? Well, nothing really comes to me naturally with blogging. It is constant exercise of looking up the directions with every step that I make.
*I would like to know if it is possible to remove another person's blog that I accidentally copied two times. At the time I did not realize that I was sending it to my blogging site.

Viewing blogs from other people...

I have never blogged before nor did I understand what blogging meant until I began this class. Education is wonderful!

I like the clever titles that people have chosen like: Technology Hints by Hintz.

I enjoyed looking through Ms. Ivey’s Science Class blog. I liked the calmness of her blog since it didn’t create a technology frenzy within my ‘newbie blog’ brain.

Learning to Blog.....

I am a dyslexia evaluator for RRISD and thought I would  try and learn about blogging this summer. I am SLOWLY learning but find it to be extremely frustrating without someone directing every move that I make. I am thrilled that I am making some progress in this new adventure.
